TPD Compliance

TPD Regulations apply to all products offered on the London Vape Shop website. See below for further details on the TPD regulations and what they represent for vapers.

What is TPD?

TPD stands for Tobacco Products Directive, a regulation by the European Union that came into effect on May 20, 2016. The TPD regulates the sale, manufacture, packaging, labeling, and advertising of e-cigarettes, e-liquids, and other vaping products.

One of the key components of the TPD is the limitation on the size of e-liquid bottles that can be sold. The TPD restricts the sale of e-liquids in bottles larger than 10 mL and also sets limits on the nicotine content of e-liquids.

In addition, the TPD requires all vaping products to be tested and registered before they can be sold and mandates that they must be child-resistant and tamper-evident.

Overall, the TPD was implemented to make vaping products safer and more consistent for consumers while also addressing concerns about the potential appeal of these products to young people.

Why Do Regulations of the TPD Apply to Vaping?

The regulations of TPD apply to vaping because e-cigarettes and other vaping products contain nicotine, which is a highly addictive substance that can have harmful effects on the human body. Furthermore, vaping is a relatively new industry, and there were concerns about the safety and quality of vaping products when they first came onto the market.

The TPD was introduced to address these concerns by setting out standards for the manufacture, packaging, and labeling of vaping products. The regulations aim to ensure that these products are of high quality, safe to use, and not marketed or sold to children.

The TPD also aims to harmonize the regulation of e-cigarettes and other vaping products across the European Union, ensuring that consumers have access to consistent information about the products they are buying and that these products are subject to the same safety and quality standards regardless of where they are sold within the EU.

Overall, the regulations of the TPD apply to vaping to promote public health and safety, protect consumers, and ensure that vaping products are manufactured, marketed, and sold in a responsible manner.

What do TPD regulations emphasize?

The TPD regulations affect vaping in several ways.

Maximum E-liquid Bottle Size: The TPD sets a maximum limit of 10ml on the size of e-liquid bottles that can be sold. This is intended to make it more difficult for people to buy large quantities of e-liquids, which can be dangerous if ingested or spilt.

Nicotine Strength: The TPD also sets limits on the nicotine strength of e-liquids. The maximum allowable concentration of nicotine in e-liquids is 20mg/ml. This is intended to reduce the risk of nicotine poisoning and make vaping products less addictive.

Child-Resistant Packaging: All vaping products must be packaged in child-resistant containers to prevent accidental ingestion by children.

Labelling Requirements: The TPD requires all vaping products to be labeled with specific warnings and information, such as the nicotine content, ingredients, and usage instructions.

Testing and Notification: All vaping products must be tested and notified to the relevant authorities before they can be sold. This is to ensure that the products are safe and meet the standards set out in the TPD.

Advertising and Promotion: The TPD restricts the advertising and promotion of vaping products, especially those that may appeal to children. For example, it prohibits the use of certain types of advertising, such as TV and radio, and restricts the use of certain types of flavours, such as those that may be attractive to children.

Overall, the regulations of the TPD aim to make vaping products safer and more consistent for consumers while also addressing concerns about the potential appeal of these products to young people.
